Peter J. Thoma believes that meticulous preparation is the key to success. His talent for explaining complex technology in simple terms is a valuable skill that Pete brings to the courtroom in patent cases.

Pete focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, patent and technology licensing, and trade secret law. He has extensive experience in semiconductor and other high-tech patent litigation and licensing, as well as business counseling related to intellectual property matters.

Pete has been in practice in large and small firms in Dallas, Texas, including as a Senior Partner in the Intellectual Property Section of Thompson & Knight, LLP, and as a partner in Howison, Thoma & Arnott, LLP. He has also practiced in house as a patent attorney with Texas Instruments Incorporated (1980-1984), and Westinghouse Electric Corporation (1974-1976), where he initially worked as a Power Semiconductor Design and Manufacturing Engineer (1968-1974).

Pete is admitted to practice before numerous courts and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is a former president of the Dallas-Fort Worth intellectual Property Law Association.

For the past 15 years, Pete's practice has emphasized patent litigation in various venues across the country, with frequent appearances in the Eastern District of Texas where he has served as lead counsel or co-counsel in trials in Markman hearings involving complex technologies.
